Step 3 — Run each zone briefly

- Activate one zone at a time at the controller
- Run until air-only flow exits the heads (water stops, then mist, then clean air)
- Don’t run zones empty for more than 1–2 minutes — heat from compressed air can damage gear-drive rotors
Step 4 — Drain the backflow assembly
- Close the isolation ball valves on the assembly
- Open the test cocks slightly to drain residual water from the assembly body
- Leave test cocks at a slight crack open through winter so any condensation can escape

- If the system has manual drain valves at low points, open them after blow-out
